We are currently seeking an AVP of Community Relations to join our organization! In this role you will be responsible for identifying community development needs for the underserved communities in support of Community Impact goals. You'll oversee the Community Relations team, community outreach, philanthropy, & development staff. You'll ensure compliance with Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) requirements. You'll cultivate strategic partnerships with external constituents to seek grant funding opportunities. You'll manage Nusenda’s community service activities & evaluate community partnerships. You'll be responsible for development of volunteer activities, coordinating with partner organizations, employees, & the community. You'll support Nusenda Foundation’s grantmaking.
What You’ll Do:
- Creates and supports Credit Union visibility in the community by volunteering, attending events, and participating on committees and boards.
- Stays informed on major community development issues and identify opportunities that align with Nusenda’s strategic objectives by building relationships with funders, community development organizations, non-profit organizations, and other community stakeholders.
- Identifies community development needs by building relationships with community partners and other resource providers.
- Executes community wide programs and initiatives like, community conversations, trainings, and capital campaign initiatives, to promote and enhance the economic well-being of the communities we serve.

Develops and maximizes opportunities presented through our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) designation and Program Related Investment’s (PRI) by coordinating efforts to provide credit and financial services to underserved markets and populations empowering them to grow, achieve organizational sustainability, and drive community revitalization.
Assist with CDFI certification/re-certification, leverage CDFI funding opportunities, and drive reporting requirements.
Leads coordination of outreach for all community program initiatives including Community Rewards, Microlending Program, Financial Education Innovation Awards, Sponsorships, Adopt-a-Cause, Community Day and others.
Recommends innovative solutions that financially empower members and the community, that differentiates Nusenda in the communities we serve.
What You’ll Need:
Five to eight years of similar or related experience
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Social Work, Communications, or related field.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience in managing, administering, and applying for private and federal grants is preferred.
- Experience working with or for non-for-profit organizations.
- Advanced experience in fundraising, volunteer coordination, and community development initiatives.
- Knowledge of concepts like collective impact and trust-based philanthropy.

Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, deal with sensitive information and handle problem resolution.
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to work with multiple levels of the organization.
Development, performance management, training, and employee counseling skills essential.
Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive innovative strategies and implement them in a timely, effective manner.
Ability to adapt quickly to change and proactively communicate.
Experienced in MS Office programs to include Excel, Word, 365, and all internal systems as affiliated with the department.
