Position Purpose
Nute Middle High School is seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and innovative Family and Consumer Science Teacher to lead a program that prepares students with essential life skills for personal, family, and career success. The ideal candidate will foster a classroom environment where students engage in project-based learning focused on areas such as nutrition and wellness, personal finance, culinary arts, textiles, interior design, and career exploration.
The successful candidate will have the passion and vision to create an engaging program that blends traditional Family and Consumer Sciences topics with 21st-century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

Essential Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging instruction in core Family and Consumer Science areas, including nutrition, culinary arts, financial literacy, personal wellness, textiles, and interior design.
Develop and implement project-based learning experiences aligned with New Hampshire Career & Technical Education standards and Family and Consumer Science national standards.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students build confidence in personal and career skills.
Teach students practical life skills with hands-on experiences in cooking labs, budgeting simulations, child development activities, sewing projects, and design challenges.
Integrate career readiness skills and promote college and career pathways in Family and Consumer Science-related fields.
Maintain classroom spaces such as culinary labs and textiles areas, ensuring safety, organization, and effective equipment use.
Encourage community partnerships to enhance real-world learning experiences, including guest speakers, internships, and community service projects.
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning and whole-student development.
Participate actively in professional learning, committees, and collaborative initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Valid New Hampshire Certification as a Comprehensive Family and Consumer Science Education Teacher.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Knowledge of best practices in teaching Family and Consumer Sciences, including up-to-date curriculum and instructional strategies.
Strong skills in classroom management, collaboration, and communication.
Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and success.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching Family and Consumer Science at the middle or high school level.
Familiarity with project-based learning.
Experience integrating technology into the curriculum (e.g., digital budgeting tools, culinary software, interior design programs).
Passion for empowering students to develop lifelong personal and career skills.
