What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Nutra Connection?
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our quality team and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality on the production floor. Reporting directly to the Director of Quality, this position will play a critical role in maintaining our commitment to excellence through day-to-day oversight, continuous improvement, and leadership of the quality assurance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor the Quality Supervisor and technicians, fostering growth and development.
Ensure food safety practices are followed on the production floor.
Review, approve, and develop quality checks for all products and processes.
Review and approve manufacturing records to ensure compliance.
Facilitate communication with third-party testing laboratories alongside Receiving Technicians.
Act as a back-up SQF Practitioner and support other roles in the Quality Department as needed.
Oversee sample collection, testing protocols, and product release alongside technicians.
Write and manage SOPs and SSOPs in collaboration with the Director of Quality.
Serve as a key member of the HACCP team, driving food safety and quality initiatives.
Lead day-to-day FSQA operations and identify areas for process improvements.
Conduct policy and procedure validations.
Prepare Certificates of Analysis for shipments as required.
Assist in maintaining the Approved Supplier Program alongside the quality team.
Take ownership and navigate decision making on the production floor as quality issues arise .
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) role within the food or supplement industry.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Experience with GFSI certifications (SQF, NSF, etc.).
Working knowledge of HACCP Plans, SQF/NSF Codes, and FDA/local regulatory requirements.
PCQI Certification required.
SQF Practitioner certification is preferred.
Proficiency with ERP software/systems.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
