What are the responsibilities and job description for the Soft Chew Team Leader - 3rd Shift (Sun. - Fri. 11:15pm - 7:15am) position at Nutramax Manufacturing?
Summary of the Position: This position is responsible for leading the Soft Chew manufacturing and packaging operations team on a daily basis to ensure all production and quality standards are met. Additionally, this position will also provide supervision on an as needed basis in the absence of the Soft Chew Supervisor.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Organize and prioritize the daily production activities to achieve daily goals with no errors or deficiencies
- Identify and report all discrepancies to ensure safe, pure and effective products
- Follow instructions as written on the Master Batch Record, SOPs and all other documents related to the appropriate process
- Check and calculate raw materials and packaging quantities as needed
- Perform set-up and adjustments to all manufacturing and packaging equipment as needed
- Weigh/label packages and prepare shipping request forms
- Transport raw materials weighing a minimum of 50lbs
- Ensure machines run at peak efficiency
- Update production records, inventory sheets, etc. as required
- Consistently check work for accuracy
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the day and participate in clean-up periods at the end of the shift
- Ensure that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner
- Train new employees on the Soft Chew operation equipment, safety, SOPs and GMPs
- Regular attendance is required.
- Operators will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) but not limited to: hair nets, beard covers, face masks, respirators, uniforms, safety shoes, safety glasses etc

- Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.

- May be exposed to raw materials and or finished goods derived from but not limited to: bovine, milk, soy, shellfish, pork, chicken, tuna and other allergen source.
Minimum Requirements: Soft Chew Team Lead will have a working knowledge of cGMP (dietary supplement or pharmaceutical environment), should have experience, training, education or any combination of it related to cleaning equipment or and environment in dietary supplement, pharmaceutical or food industry. Ability to use basic cleaning devices and ability to learn advanced cleaning equipment. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all staff levels. Critical thinking skills to learn Nutramax procedures and predict whether proposed changes will be effective. Must be able to work independently and within team environment, according to specific, written and verbal instructions, presented by supervisor or designee.
Attention to detail and some process analytical skills necessary. The ability to stand on a regular basis and use hands and arms to lift and reach required. Must be able to lift/move packages and materials weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. Previous knowledge and understanding of production processes in a cGMP or Pharmaceutical environment desired.
Must have strong mathematical and mechanical skills.. Must be able to handle multiple tasks. Requires ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic.
Education and Experience : This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma. Three years of experience in pharmaceutical, dietary supplement or food industry. Basic knowledge a cGMP regulations and experience in cGMP environment is preferred but not necessary. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment and follow all appropriate written and verbal instructions and procedures. Position requires lifting, moving, cleaning of equipment and parts of equipment. Attention to details, multitasking and organizational skills are required. This position requires basic computer skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the soft chew operations team
- Enforce Safe Work Practices: It's the supervisor’s responsibility to enforce safe work practices and procedures; failure to do so is an invitation for accidents to occur. Workers must be encouraged to identify unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards.
- Correct Unsafe Conditions: Supervisors' must take immediate steps to correct unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards within their authority and ability to do so. When an unsafe or unhealthful workplace condition or hazard cannot be immediately corrected, the supervisor must take temporary precautionary measures. Supervisors must follow-up to ensure that corrective measures are completed in a timely manner to address the hazard.
- Prevent Lingering Unsafe or Unhealthful Workplace Conditions or Hazards: It's the supervisor's responsibility to train and periodically remind employees of what to look for and how to correct or report unsafe conditions or hazards. If a hazard is identified, the supervisor must act to correct.
- Incidents Reporting: Immediately ensure 1st aid is provided by a ERT member and ensure there is no immediate danger to others. Arrange additional medical treatment for the employee if necessary. Provide emergency transportation, if needed. Notify additional rescue/response teams if necessary.
- Immediately notify EHS for employees seeking medical treatment for work related incidents. Ensure employee completes their sections of the safety incident report.
- Complete the incident report and email to Incident Response before the end of your shift. Begin incident investigation Secure the scene. Keep it unchanged to accurately collect the facts. Obtain photos if needed.
- Coordinate with EHS to form a cross functional team to perform 5 WHY - Root Cause investigation – Other investigation tools may be utilized for more complicated investigations. Corrective action(s) will be agreed upon by the cross functional team based on the root cause. Once the investigation is complete and agreed upon by the cross functional team, email the completed investigation to Incident Reporting
