Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for mechanical repairs, maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment and structural repairs, as well as assisting the Maintenance Supervisor as instructed.
Requirements
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional Duties as Assigned)
- Disassemble, repair, maintain, and reassemble all plant machinery, systems and equipment which affect systems change over on an as needed basis
- Perform routine maintenance of machinery, plant systems, and equipment at the proper intervals (i.e. cleaning, greasing, etc.)
- Maintain accurate and consistent records of routine maintenance and machinery repairs, as well as maintain current files to include machine operating detailed information on all plant machinery and equipment
- Perform fabrication and improvisation work on machinery and systems, as needed
- Perform mechanical repair and maintenance on plant systems involving electrical, plumbing and temperature control
- Perform mechanical repair and maintenance on plant systems involving electrical, plumbing and temperature control
- Efficiently control and operate wrapping machines, making sure that ink is printing numbers on film correctly and that a minimal amount of film is wasted
- Efficiently control and operate cartooning machinery, keeping carton waste minimized and making sure that production lot codes are printing correctly
- Maintain a spare parts inventory for all machinery and equipment on a frequently needed basis
- Ensure only food grade lubricants are used for all food contact machinery and equipment.
- Maintain and keep records of all temporary fixes for machinery and facility structures. Only using approved temporary repairing materials.
Required Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a maintenance position (1 year)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing facility (1 year)
- Prior experience with and knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic components and controls (1 year)
- Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously
- Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems and prioritize work
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
- Ability to create, compose and edit written materials
- Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
- Strong written and oral communication skills to interact coworkers in a professional and helpful manner in person or via phone or written correspondence
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term goals
- Ability to work productively in a fast paced, stressful environment
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
Hours
Primarily Monday-Friday, 1st shift
Some weekends required
(Hours vary depending on business needs)
Pay Rate:
$18-20/hour (DOE)
