Job Description: This is an applied soil scientist position sited in either our Athens (preferred) or Asheville office. Primary responsibilities would include conducting detailed site and soil evaluations in support of a diverse array of projects. The selected candidate will have opportunities to develop and grow within the company. We encourage continuing education and professional certification, supporting both.
General responsibilities include:
• Fieldwork: performs field mapping and soil classification, hydric soil delineations, sampling for soil chemical analysis, and permeability testing. May also include surface/storm water and groundwater sampling and assessment as required by specific projects.
• Communication: coordinates with Project Managers and internal staff on all aspects of scheduling, field logistics and general project support.
• Data Analysis: compiles, reduces and formats field and mapping data in support of deliverables, permit applications, compliance forms and other objectives.
• Reporting: provides input (narratives, figures and data summaries) on reports and technical memorandums as guided by the Project Manager.

Core Requirements:
• B.S. Degree or higher, M.S. preferred.
• 1-5 years experience.
• Achieved or ability to achieve “in training” or “Associate” status for professional certification(s).
• Must be adept at learning new technologies, including various software, applications, and us of field equipment, GIS experience and expertise required.
• Must be able to work in a variety of field conditions: including inclement weather, seasonal fluctuations in outdoor temperatures, rugged terrain, and creature related field hazards.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Compensation:
• Exempt Salaried Position with compensation commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package including company paid medical healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and holiday pay. In certain cases, we may contribute towards relocation costs.
