 DEFINITION:  Under supervision of the Program Director and/or Site Supervisor State Preschool Program, will provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: To interact, initiate and encourage the children in activities during the day; help the children control behavior using a positive and appropriate approach and using a consistent technique; to help children become independent; to help children learn good social skills; to maintain good communication with parents; to assist the teacher in planning activities for the group; develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the classroom; to assist the teacher in record keeping by assisting on observations regarding the children’s health, behavior and development; to help build a supportive team.
