While technology has reshaped consumer commerce, the business-to-business (B2B) economy — three times larger— has lagged behind.

From coffee to lumber, every product we use has been traded through a complex supply chain of suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. Despite the massive scale of this market, most businesses manage their trading relationships and commerce activities using outdated methods like paper forms, PDFs, emails, faxes, phone calls, and spreadsheets, making processes slow and inefficient.

Much like how Shopify, Stripe and Square have transformed how consumer companies transact, we aim to do the same for B2B companies.

About The Role

As Nuvo’s first Finance & Accounting hire, you will take full ownership of our financial operations, ensuring we have the systems, reporting, and strategic insights needed to scale effectively. You will own Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), billing, taxes, financial planning, financial reporting, and financial strategy — while implementing and optimizing the tools and processes to support these functions.

You will work closely with leadership to measure, monitor, and manage key financial metrics such as burn, runway, revenue reporting, and other indicators of startup health. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment and is eager to build a strong financial foundation for a fast-growing company.

Key Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day financial operations, including AR, AP, billing, payroll, taxes, and compliance.
• Implement and optimize finance and accounting systems, ensuring efficient, scalable processes, and thoughtful automation.
• Lead financial planning & analysis (FP&A), providing insights into cash flow, burn rate, runway, and revenue growth.
• Prepare and present financial reports, board reports, and investor updates in partnership with leadership.
• Establish internal controls, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and risk management.
• Develop and track key financial metrics to support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with external accountants and tax advisors as needed.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape financial strategy, including capital allocation, pricing models, and growth and headcount planning.
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or a similar role, plus some start-up experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience with billing, AR/AP, payroll, and accounting systems (i.e. QuickBooks, Hubspot Commerce)
• Ability to analyze financial data, build models, and provide strategic insights.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with the ability to build and scale financial processes from scratch.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
• Experience in fintech, B2B SaaS, or Marketplace businesses. Existing knowledge of SaaS metrics and measures is advantageous.
• CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus but not required.
