Job Description
The Chief Fire Protection Engineer will oversee the integration and standardization of Fire Protection standards and processes across all BT (Buildings & Technology) – Planning and Design offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train technical staff members, arranging for outside training as needed.
- Assist Group Leaders in identifying methods to optimize staff utilization.
- Participate in the technical staff performance review process to assess skill development.
- Oversee the quality control review process to ensure compliance with technical requirements and code standards.
- Define and set engineering standards for the department to improve efficiency.
- Interface with other Chief Engineers to coordinate efforts.
- Conceptualize design on complex projects and assist junior staff with questions and problems.
- Deliver AIA credit presentations and articles annually.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of twenty years of experience designing and managing projects independently or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong understanding of fire protection principles and codes.
- Professional Engineering Registration.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and client relationship skills.
- Previous people management experience.
