Overview
NV5 is actively recruiting a GIS Analyst within our eGIS group who possesses sound expertise in geospatial technologies and analytic methodologies. The analyst must be highly self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The analyst must work well in a team environment and adaptable.
This job is a full-time, remote position. Due to federal contract requirements, the candidate must be a US Citizen and capable of attaining required security clearance. Some travel to active military installations is required. Due to potential for travel, candidate must be located within the continental United States.

- Location: Onsite at Ft. Belvoir, VA
- Travel <10% of the time (some occasional on-site visits required).

Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop applications on client's ArcGIS Enterprise Portal environment.
- Works with team and other support staff to discover application and database solutions.
- Developing, analyzing, manipulating, extracting, and importing data (in a wide variety of formats) to meet US Army Reserve requirements.
- Development of standalone map products as needed.
- Create Geospatial Experience Builder Apps and Widgets.
- Research and understand the GIS needs of the client, as well as the complex nature of varied client databases.
- Compile thematic data and records into reports.
- Enter delineated map and descriptive information into the GIS through digitizing, key entry, or other standard data entry procedures.
- Prepare models, diagrams, and technical documentation for GIS applications, GIS database metadata, and operating procedures.
- Provides geospatial and application/Portal training.
- Uses technology (such as Model Builder or Python) to automate workflows.
- Use of GPS equipment to facilitate data collection and post processing of data.
- Investigate and verify geographic and land use data by making physical inspections and/or surveys of real property assets.
- Digitize data and/or utilize GIS/GPS processes to develop spatial data as required for GIS project.
- GIS Data Quality Control and Assurance to governmental data standards (ie SDSFIE) to ensure a high degree of data consistency, integrity, and accuracy.
- Travel required; 10-20%.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field.
- Three years of experience using GIS (experience with ArcGIS Enterprise applications a plus).
- Experience in technical writing (able to provide sample upon request).
- Ability to communicate highly technical information and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- QA/QC experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required to comply with government contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
- One year or more of GIS experience with Army IGI&S, Army Installation Atlas and ePRISM data.
- Experience in public speaking; preference will be given to those with experience in conducting training.
- Experience utilizing Python or other languages in creating database management efficiencies or customizing existing ArcGIS tools.
- Experience using GPS equipment.
- Experience with Python, SQL and/or Postgres.
- Familiarity with Army real property and space management.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
