We are seeking a Traffic Engineer (EI) who will work on transportation planning and traffic engineering projects for our Traffic Services Group in our Cary or Charlotte, NC office.
Additional experience in one or more of the following traffic engineering subdisciplines is desired:
- Preparing traffic management plans and temporary traffic control plans
- Traffic signal design, closed-loop signal system design, and ITS design;
- Experience preparing signing and pavement marking plans;
- Traffic analyses using software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA.
- ITS and Lighting design for major roadway projects
- BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Preferred to have Professional Engineer license, with ability to obtain NC PE within 3 months.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Project or Task Management experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of state and municipal policies, standards, specifications, and guidelines desired.
- Experience preparing traffic engineering design plans for a state DOT or municipality.
- Excellent communication, presentation, writing and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Experience using MicroStation, ORD, or Civil3D is preferred.

- Work will primarily be in the office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
