Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role involves assisting veterinarians in providing high-quality care to a variety of animals, ensuring their health and well-being while also supporting pet owners during their visits. We cross train our staff, so you will also learn reception, kennel, and cleaner.
Duties
- Assist in the examination and treatment of animals, including handling and restraining pets as needed.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and monitoring during procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments administered.
- Provide front desk support, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing client inquiries.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing equipment and maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge in veterinary care is preferred, but we will train the right person.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is essential for effective communication within the team.
- Previous experience in animal restraint and general animal care is beneficial
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and their pets.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
