Retama Equine Hospital is an equine exclusive practice offering the highest quality of medicine to a diverse community. Our caseload includes sports medicine, reproduction, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, neonatal care, and emergency services. Our hospital is equipped with two Sound Radiograph mobile units, multiple ultrasound units for reproductive work (SonoSite), tendon and general sonograms (GE), 1M and 3M Olympus scopes for endoscopy/gastroscopy, multiple PowerFloat units, Shockwave and Sound Smart RLT regenerative laser, biological therapies (IRAP, PRP, and Pro-Stride), Lameness Locator, and on-site lab services (including Coggins Lab).
Our building consists of three stocks, three ICU stalls, 20 hospital stalls, 4 isolation stalls and 16 paddocks. The staff at Retama Equine Hospital are amazing, and each team member is valued for the strengths they bring to our hospital. Team effort, support and cooperation provide the best care for our patients and clients. The hospital is staffed 24-hours, and the support team consists of 20 technicians, office assistants, barn assistants, and a practice manager.
Retama is located near San Antonio Texas, where the city life, hill country, rivers, and state park come together. There is a vibrant cultural scene, with annual festivals, art galleries, museums, and a variety of culinary experiences. San Antonio and its surrounding area boast a diverse and extensive horse population that perform a variety of disciplines including but not limited to rodeo, racing, eventing, dressage, and hunter-jumper.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented associate veterinarian with an interest in sports medicine, reproduction and/or ambulatory services. Our ideal candidate is willing to provide ambulatory services and care for hospitalized cases.
With this position, primary emergency calls are shared on a rotating basis, to ensure appropriate work-life balance for our veterinarians.
