East Lake Animal Hospital is a general practice clinic that also sees exotics and is beginning to incorporate acupuncture into our practice. We are a fun energetic team and see a variety of pet illnesses and diseases. As a busy GP/ER practice, we have something always happening!
We are in an amazing location - just 30 minutes away from Monterey with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Santa Cruz with the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk that has the Giant Dipper roller coaster that just turned 100 years old. We would love to host you for an externship!
Students will work closely with the supervising DVMs to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are offered to veterinary students in their final year of veterinary school.
