This position is primarily responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, obtaining patient history, preliminary screening and work up, diagnostic testing, patient education, patient follow ups, and updating and inputting outcome analysis data.

- Inspect and maintain all OR equipment in good working order (ie., microscopes, sterilizers, phaco units, vitrectomy units, OR lights, sonic washer and rinser / dryer, generator, etc.) Advise Facility Manager of any necessary repairs.
- Inspect, clean, sterilize, and maintain all instruments in good working condition. Advise Facility Manager of any need for repairs or replacement.
- Maintain equipment checklist prior to each day’s cases verifying that all equipment is functioning properly.
- Maintain sterility logs for each day’s cases verifying sterility of all instruments and supplies.
- Assist Facility Manager in maintaining equipment manuals, updating as needed (to include pictures, equipment list, procedures for use and troubleshooting).
- Assist Facility Manager in maintaining instrument manuals updating as needed with pictures and instrument try lists.
- Maintain adequate stock of suture, custom packs, tubing kits (for Phaco and Vitrectomy units), as well as seldom-used items such as scleral buckle implants, trephines, etc. Advise Facility Manager when supplies get low.
- Assist with unpacking and storing of supplies as needed (date and initial packing slips before giving to Facility Manager.
- Assist Circulating RNs to restock OR cabinets, storage after each day’s cases and report low stock levels to Facility Manager.
- Assist Facility Manager as requested to check all lenses once a month for outdates. Date and initial lens sheet and advise Facility Manager of any that are about to outdate.
- Maintain labels on instrument cabinets and shelves to assist all staff in returning instruments to the proper locations.
- Maintain OR’s, instrument room, sterilizer rooms in clean and orderly condition.
- Maintain the OSHA list of chemicals used in the facility and maintain the SDS manual.
- Certified Surgical Tech with one year of ASC or hospital experience
- Experience in the LASIK/Ophthalmology field is a plus
- High School Diploma or equivalent
