Job Summary:
The Paralegal will provide essential support to attorneys in the preparation and management of litigation, legal documents, and files in accordance with federal rules and regulations. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting documents, and assisting in trial preparation, ensuring that all work is performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings by organizing case files and managing evidence.
- Conduct legal research using various tools to gather relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Prepare summaries of depositions, witness statements, and other relevant documents for attorney review.
- Interact with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and facilitate communication.
- Assist in the discovery process, including the management of electronic and hard-copy documents, and the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and monitoring deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with legal trends and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Examining, preparing and processing a variety of technical legal documents, e.g., complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, and subpoenas.
- Providing assistance to attorneys in trial preparations.
- Assembling trial exhibits, affidavits, discovery in various formats, and other legal documents.
- Assembling and organizing files and records materials for disposition or transfer to records depository.
- Maintaining calendar of assigned active cases.
- Tracking filing, hearing, and trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews.
- Arranging travel by preparing itinerary and securing transportation and hotel reservations.
- Producing a variety of written documents and materials using a wide range of office software applications.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for
- MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate. Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required;
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems) and spreadsheets.
- Basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
