Family looking for support for female child (5 to 7 years-old). Currently, the family is trying to decide on what hours would work best, so they are open at the moment. Ideal DSP will be comfortable assisting the child to build independent living skills: self care, bathing, working toward independence with hygiene and communication. Direct instruction, verbal prompts/cues, visual cues, positive reinforcement, and modeled behavior techniques can be used as needed to encourage skill development. She will continue to grow her communication skills with American Sign Language.
A good support to the client would be patient, have good intuition and prediction skills. They would also need to know how to communicate with her and watch her non-verbal body language to know if she has any health changes. The person would need to be creative. The client is a social butterfly and is very fun to be around.
