Job Summary
The Drafter is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings for custom cabinets and cabinetry systems. This role involves collaborating with our sales team to translate concepts and designs into accurate plans for our engineers to further develop into production ready drawings. The drafter will ensure that drawings meet customer expectations and represent standard product specifications using our custom library.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed, accurate technical drawings of cabinets and related components using our custom library.
- Collaborate with our sales team to ensure drawings meet both our customer specifications and standard design practices.
- Develop 2D and 3D drawings using KCD or Cabinet Vision to provide our Engineers with the information they need to create technical, production ready instructions
- Interpret architectural or design concepts and convert them into practical, manufacturable cabinet plans.
- Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, codes, best practices for cabinetry and woodworking, and are aesthetically pleasing.
- Revise and update drawings as needed based on feedback from the engineering or sales team.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and solve design or manufacturing challenges.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all drawings, revisions, and documentation related to the projects.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure a clear understanding of project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Support the estimation team with technical specifications and details for cost and material estimates.
Measurement of Success
- Ensure the drafting department meets all deliverable deadlines
- Ensure drafting models are accurate and do not cause errors in the engineering drawings
- Ensure drawings closely follow design instructions from sales to limit the number of re-drafts per project
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform office tasks
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Associate’s degree or higher in drafting, engineering, architecture or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a drafter, particularly in cabinetry, woodworking, or furniture design.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, KCD or similar programs.
- Strong understanding of cabinetry construction methods, materials, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and architectural drawings.
- Knowledge of woodworking, materials, and industry standards in cabinet manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to create precise and accurate technical drawings.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt designs to meet customer needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
