GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Job Description

NW Natural Water Services is seeking a Wastewater Operations Technician to operate, monitor and manage wastewater treatment plants. The Operations Tech will be responsible for overseeing all wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes to meet permit requirements and plant performance goals. The Operations Tech will serve under the plant Supervising Operator and under most circumstances, work will be performed under the supervision of the Supervising Operator.

Essential Functions

Essential functions of the Operations Tech include, but are not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

· Monitor and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment (such as headworks, pumps, blowers, samplers and related equipment)

· Run process control and permit related water samples in lab per plant

standard operating procedures. Understand lab quality control.

· Initiate composite sampler programs and collect samples to be delivered to outside lab.

· Perform manhole inspections and collection system duties

· Support biosolids management including biosolids lime stabilization, sludge hauling and land application

· Read and record meter and gauge readings related to plant operations

and input into electronic database

· Report malfunctioning equipment and perform minor maintenance

· Prepare and dispense chemicals

· Perform other related work as required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

· Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety procedures of the work

· Ability to travel and work in inclement weather conditions on a daily basis

· Ability to communicate and consult with Supervising Operator on a daily basis

· Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner

· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

· Oregon DMV drivers license

· Oregon Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Certification (or ability to achieve within 12 months)

· Oregon Level 1 Collections Certification (or ability to achieve within 12

months)

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
