Medical Collections Specialist

OVERVIEW:
As part of our business office team, you will enjoy a semi-flexible schedule. Under the direct supervision of our Administrator, the insurance collections specialist will be responsible for managing patient accounts, including following up on unpaid claims. You will be researching claims to verify that claims are processed and paid correctly. You will also be responsible for investigating denials and appealing the carrier’s rejections as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:
Not everyone can be the excellent addition to our team that we are seeking. To be seriously considered for this role, you must have the following in regard to:
· Experience: At least 3 years in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities; at Ambulatory Surgery Center. If you do not have MEDICAL collections experience, please do not apply, you will not be considered.
· Skills: You must have good communication skills with not only co-workers/patients, but also with carriers to resolve denied and underpaid claims. Additionally, you must have great customer service and human relations skills. You must also be a strong team player. This position requires a high-volume of phone calls and collections, which will require someone who is task-oriented and very organized. We are seeking someone with a full understanding of medical insurance plans, worker’s compensation and Medicare, with a strong knowledge of appeal requirements for each carrier. You should be punctual and willing to adhere to all facility policies and procedures. Fluent Spanish skills are highly valued.
