Position Summary
- Inspect logs for defects and determine the best cutting patterns to maximize yield.
- Set up and operate sawmills, including band saws, circular saws, and other cutting machinery.
- Accurately cut logs into specified dimensions, including boards, beams, and other lumber products.
- Monitor the quality of cut lumber, ensuring it meets industry standards and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on sawmill machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Skills:
- Proficient in using and maintaining sawing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read measurements accurately.
- Knowledge of different types of wood and their properties.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting machinery.
