The Purchasing Agent position is responsible for the management and coordination of the purchasing functions for our Longview, WA facility. Key functions include the purchasing of all bulk items and specialty parts and equipment for this location. The Purchasing Agent will negotiate the best possible price for the parts and equipment needed, while setting up stored inventory of parts with vendors to ensure on time deliveries. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for organizing and managing inventories of the parts and supply rooms.

Key Responsibilities:
- To provide the best quality parts and equipment while maintaining the most efficient cost.
- Manage and maintain the facility purchase order system.
- Maintain a well-organized parts room and supply room with adequate inventories.
- Communicate with vendors locally and across the country to get on time deliveries.
- Communicate with facility personnel to address the purchasing of needed mill parts and equipment.
- Responsible for compliance with accounting, administrative and internal control policies.
- This position works with the Northwest Hardwoods Division Accounting Group to ensure the integrity of the financial reporting.
- Manage key portions of the MPulse program.
- This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Demonstrate and role model safe work behaviors.
- 2 years of purchasing or materials/supplies inventory experience with a manufacturing company.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted purchasing principle; accounting education preferred.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication skills – written and oral.
- Strong PC skills.
- Knowledge of and experience of purchasing systems and vendors.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP
