Job Title: Sports Medicine and Concussion Program Director


Reports To: Director of Operations

Position Summary:

The Sports Medicine and Concussion Program Director is responsible for the development, oversight, and advancement of a specialized clinical program focused on the evaluation, treatment, and recovery of individuals with concussions, particularly athletes and individuals with mild traumatic brain injuries. This leadership role involves direct clinical service, interdisciplinary coordination, community and professional outreach, and research engagement, with the goal of providing evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the operations of the Concussion Program, including patient intake, assessment, treatment planning, discharge, and standardized protocols for different sports and age groups.
  • Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations using tools such as ImPACT, VOMS, RBANS and other standardized measures.
  • Provide individual patient care from initial evaluation through full symptom resolution.
  • Establish quality assurance metrics and outcome measurements to evaluate program effectiveness and track patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, and athletic trainers.
  • Maintain clinical caseload and ensure high-quality, evidence-based treatment approaches in line with current concussion research.
  • Lead educational initiatives and in-service trainings for staff, community partners, schools, sports leagues, and athletic organizations.
  • Supervise clinical staff or trainees, where applicable.
  • Manage program resources, including equipment procurement and maintenance.
  • Represent the program in professional settings, including academic conferences, team consultations, and outreach with sports organizations.
  • Develop telehealth capabilities for remote assessment and follow-up when appropriate.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation systems for clinical records and program performance.
  • Implement risk management strategies and ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Stay current on concussion research and best practices to inform clinical care and contribute to ongoing program development.
  • Participate in or lead relevant research initiatives related to concussion treatment and recovery.
  • Advocate for policy improvements related to concussion safety at local, state, and national levels.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology with specialization in neuropsychology or health psychology.
  • Licensed Psychologist in the state of Washington (or license-eligible).
  • 5 experience with concussion management.
  • Prior leadership or program development experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of research involvement and academic contribution in concussion-related topics.
  • Knowledge of state-specific concussion laws and regulations.
  • Background in sports medicine or athletic training. 
  • Maintain state and national licensures as needed for your profession. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with professional or collegiate sports teams.
  • Familiarity with return-to-play protocols and athletic performance considerations post-concussion.
  • Involvement with regional or national brain injury associations or advocacy work.

Schedule: Full-Time

Salary : $120,000 - $180,000
