NXP initiated its digital transformation in 2021, with a strategic investment in modernizing its digital infrastructure. One of the key pillars of its Digital Transformation is Enterprise Data, which resulted mid-2023 in the set-up of a Central Data Office, headed by a CDO. This newly formed team aims at maximizing the power of data, analytics, AI and ML, to enable making informed decisions, to improve our customers and employee experience, operational efficiency as well of growth.
The Central Data Office team is structured around key areas of capabilities, such as Data Analytics Portfolio, Data Platforms, Data Architecture, Data Literacy and Data Governance.
We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to complement our Data Architecture team. This senior Data Architect will help develop & deliver data architecture related designs for multiple respective domains working with multiple internal stakeholders both at a technical and functional level.
Your key responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality of NXP and its vendors & clients' proprietary information.
- Provides a consultative approach with BG / BU users, asking questions to understand the business need and deriving the data flow based on those needs.
- Works closely with the Data Program managers, Data Governance experts, Data Engineers and Data Scientist of the Data CDO, part of client-oriented project teams assisting with, gathering, reviewing and interpretation of business and technical requirements and understanding data analytics use cases objectives.
- Develops strategic data architecture designs for an open data architecture used for data analytics use cases.
- Determines structured and unstructured data architecture requirements by cohesively blending the needs of the business with the feasibility of current and emerging data technologies and architecture standards.
- Partners with and becomes a knowledge expert across the organization to help solve complex data analytics business problems, by designing the appropriate data architectures using a wide array of skills.
- Develops database and big data solutions by designing data architectures, including business architecture, data storage, data analytics, data transformation, and data access definitions.
- Works closely with the data engineering teams to design highly performant and scalable data solutions.
- Provides best practice direction and even hands-on implementation of optimized relational and non-relational database solutions.
- Provides delivery leadership in the design, deployment and data conversion of complex data solutions, UAT and data architecture practices.
- Responsible for creation and communication of data architecture standards and best practices, and data movement and mapping design.
- Responsible for validation of the data quality and integration of all data architecture components, and capture of necessary data architecture metrics for benchmarking and trending to support quality of processes and related artifacts.
- Understands and applies the enterprise data life cycle (creation, replication, archival, disposition of historical and PII data).
- Responsible for evaluating and recommending data query and modeling tools to assist with data architecture activities, development and communication of best practices for those tools, and activities to improve effectiveness and quality.
- Develops and improves data domain blueprints.
- Assists developers in the design and improvement of database queries, provides training and learning opportunities.
- Supports deep business analytics and statistically based data analysis projects to drive business value by designing and implementing right architectures for these projects.
- Establishes and participates in data management processes including data lineage, data profiling, data quality management, data stewardship and governance.
- Seamlessly works with ETL / ELT developers, database and big data administrators, application interface developers, DevOps and IT operations personnel, as well as product management and clients.
- Interacts in cooperative and professional manner, with all levels of employees, vendors and / or clients, in team environment.
- Organizes tasks and resources to complete work and meet deadlines according to established CDO procedures.

You will report to the Lead Data Architect. Together, you will make a critical contribution to the implementation of the Data Strategy and Digital Transformation journey at NXP. Complexity of the job
The success of the role is highly dependent on communication, facilitation and convincing skills and the ability to relate to all levels within the business organization.
The Data Architect needs to be accepted as a trusted advisor and be able to drive change, and influence and challenge the (senior) business partners and other stakeholders.
The Data Architect works in agile teams, in an international context with leaders and experts both within and outside of NXP.
