What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1:1 Community Support Specialist (DSP) Comhab for Teen – Schenectady, NY [MA] position at NY Support Broker?
We're seeking a paid caregiver (Direct Service Provider) for our son, 14, who is on the autism spectrum. He cannot communicate verbally and relies on sign language and pointing to pictures to identify his needs. He lives in comfortable suburban home with good family supports. We’re looking for a Community Habilitation (ComHab) worker who can assist him at home, as well as bring him out into the community, help him engage in activities, and develop life skills.
This is a 1-on-1 position, paid at $23/hr.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Showing care, compassion, and encouragement to a boy with special needs.
-Supervision in the home and out in the community.
-Transportation to activities, special events, and appointments (mileage reimbursable at 60-cents a mile).
-Assistance with personal care (hygiene, grooming, toileting)
-Promote healthy living through implementing plans for nutrition, exercise, and activities.
-Ensure the safety of the person ay home and in the community.
Qualifications:
-High School diploma or GED is required. Valid NYS driver’s license and personal transportation is required.
-Ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment and complete necessary documentation.
