We are recruiting an experienced RN Infection Control Nurse for a nursing home. The Nurse will implement effective infection control programs, educate staff and residents, develop policies, manage outbreaks, and foster collaboration.
Core Responsibilities
Conduct regular surveillance and monitoring of infections within the nursing home. This involves tracking infection rates, identifying patterns, and promptly addressing outbreaks. RN must meticulously document all disease cases, analyze trends, and report findings to the nursing home administration and relevant health authorities.
Prevention and Education
Prevention is key to infection control. The RN Infection Control Nurse develops and implements comprehensive prevention programs tailored to the nursing home setting. These programs include educating staff and residents on proper hygiene practices, such as handwashing, respiratory etiquette, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Regular training sessions and educational workshops are conducted to inform everyone about the latest infection control protocols and guidelines.
Other Duties Include :
- Oversees the disinfection and sterilization of contaminated areas and ensures that all staff follow proper infection control procedures during the outbreak.
- Works closely with the nursing staff, physicians, housekeeping, dietary services, and other relevant personnel to ensure a coordinated infection prevention and control approach.
- Attends regular interdisciplinary meetings to discuss infection control strategies, share updates, and address concerns.
- Updates infection control measures, address questions or concerns, and offers guidance on how families can support infection prevention efforts. In an outbreak, the Nurse ensures that families are informed promptly and kept updated on the situation.
- Evaluate infection control programs' effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Implements quality improvement initiatives, such as revising protocols, enhancing staff training, and incorporating new technologies or practices. These efforts contribute to improving infection control measures within the nursing home.
