The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire Agency Attorney - Level 1 to work in Office of the General Counsel's (OGC) Disciplinary Proceedings Unit. Under supervision and with some latitude for independent judgment, the selected candidate will perform legal work which may include-
In Addition To Meeting The Minimum Qualification Requirements
To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.

Job Description
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire Agency Attorney - Level 1 to work in Office of the General Counsel's (OGC) Disciplinary Proceedings Unit. Under supervision and with some latitude for independent judgment, the selected candidate will perform legal work which may include-
- Conducting investigations by interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, drafting a Statement of Charges, etc.;
- Conducting legal research and preparing various intra-agency, memoranda in order to inform appropriate personnel of the status of each case;
- Representing the agency at various proceedings, including trials at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) and the NYC Office of Labor Relations;
- Handling appeals at the Civil Service Commission (CCSC) under section 72 and 75 of the NYS Civil Service Law;
- Providing guidance to all authorized agency personnel either within the Department or throughout municipal government;
- Assisting the Associate Director with monitoring probationary and provisional employees;
- Assisting with investigations of complaints and handling the monthly caseload of approximately 200-250 open cases; (combined 2 sentences)
- Training colleagues on disciplinary issues; and
- Assisting in the daily operation of the office.
- Admission to the New York State Bar; and either "2" or "3" below.
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or
- Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
