Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Executive Director of Specialized Programs, the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator will work on maintaining, promoting, and coordinating activities for Specialized Programs (Nest, Horizon, AIMS, Bilingual Special Education, ACES, Path, and IREAD). The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator supports the Specialized Program team scheduling meetings/communications within the office and with other educational partners, including students, families, and staff, as well as organizing data. The office focuses on work and programs for students with disabilities, their families, and the educational stakeholders who serve them. The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator is expected to perform tasks as assigned, including special projects. Performs related work.

Key Relationships: Maintains positive professional relationships within the Specialized Programs team and with district offices, school communities, agencies, students, families and educational partners.

Key Relationships: Maintains positive professional relationships within the Specialized Programs team and with district offices, school communities, agencies, students, families and educational partners.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate community events in collaboration with Specialized Program team to support schools, students, families, and educational partners.
- Manage program email communication in collaboration with program directors, including responding to families and communities, ensuring that applications are processed, and response time is timely and appropriate.
- Liaise with contracted project consultants and educational partners; coordinate meetings, workshops, and training for various stakeholders, including students, families, and educational partners.
- Coordinate all project visibility initiatives and outreach, including mailings, announcements, and newsletters.
- Work with the Specialized Programs team to support and manage office project activities and tasks.
- Coordinate day-to-day office activities, including administrative support for the Specialized Program Team and support of collaborations.
- Coordinate the collection of all participating school academic, behavior, and transition data; develop reports on school progress.
- Coordinate enrollment, logistics, and evaluation of all project-related professional development offerings through registration systems, e.g., email and web-based portals.
Minimum
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described in "1" above.
Preferred
- Baccalaureate degree in the field of Human Service or Data Management.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly motivated, self-directed team player with a history of success.
- Able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment, and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Familiarity with the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) system.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to collect and organize data from multiple data sources.
- Ability to work and function as part of a team.
