Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Security Engineering, with great latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the Lead Infrastructure Security and Data Protection Analyst oversees a large and complex networked computer operations environment. The position collaborates with security teams to ensure that all DIIT-managed locations have the necessary resources and support to provide the best possible services to the public. Also, the role maintains a blend of central, school, and public-facing web applications and databases, with over 1 million endpoints for students, faculty, and administrative staff. The Analyst monitors the day-to-day operations and utilizes knowledge of business processes and IT infrastructure to implement complex system upgrades, backup data, test computer systems and oversees system maintenance. Performs related work.

Responsibilities
- Serves as a subject matter expert in the development of security integration plans to protect existing infrastructure and to incorporate future solutions.
- Serves as subject matter expert on defining and developing security requirements using risk assessments, threat modeling, testing, and analysis of existing systems.
- Creates and implements security policies and protocols, monitors networks for suspicious activities, and responds to any security breaches that might occur.
- Performs related functions required for the continued and effective operation of a computer environment.
- Provides operational support for critical security systems and services, including identity management, intrusion detection/prevention, data leakage prevention, content filtering, firewall compliance, vulnerability, and security event management.
- Participates in planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining highly secure application architecture solutions that include network devices, servers, storage, applications, and virtualization technologies.
- Collaborates with various Information Technology staff members on a routine basis for the purposes of reviewing and providing recommendations for information security, such as patch reports, network design, change management, and other projects as assigned.
- Serves as a Lead liaison between OTI/Cyber Command, NYCPS Operations teams to ensure compliance with endpoint tools configuration standards.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of subordinates and is generally responsible for the satisfactory completion of the work performed.
Minimum
- A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical, or related area.
- A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent approved by a state’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of satisfactory experience in any of the areas described in “1” above; or
- Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2”, above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in “2” above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) credits from an accredited college or graduate school in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience.

- Experience with IT Security processes, policies and procedures.
- Ability to research, investigate, and analyze findings.
- Knowledge of data structure, security methods, and technical elements to protect data.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service.
- Strong technical background and familiarity with traditional and emerging security technologies and practices a plus.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and interact effectively with IT, Security, and Business leaders as well as school support staff.

Salary : $104,334 - $115,000
