Leasing is responsible to identify and lease space for City agency operations on behalf of the city as a tenant. Leasing’s objective is to timely negotiate cost effective leases that satisfy the client agency’s requirements, while conforming to the City’s requirements, policies, and procedures. This work is accomplished by in-house staff or by the tenant representative brokers with whom DCAS has contracted. The City has a portfolio of 447 leases for City agencies in privately owned properties totaling approximately 23 million square feet. These leases range in size from approximately 700 to 660,000 square feet. Leasing also manages a portfolio of approximately 300 short term agreements and 100 long term agreements that allow the private use of certain City-owned properties, consistent with City requirements, policies, and procedures. The short-term agreements generate more than $5 million in annual revenue, while the long-term agreements generate approximately $60 million annually.
