Summary
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Transit Task Force develops, monitors, and maintains the budgets for DEP, Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), as well as the City’s contribution to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). This taskforce addresses issues pertaining to upstate watershed agreements, wastewater treatment, transit service subsidies, and regulation of the City’s taxicabs and for-hire vehicles.
Job Description
The intern will lead the following projects under general supervision, with latitude for independent judgement:
Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.

Job Description

- Assist in Day-to-Day Business: Assist unit with contract and Certificate to Proceeds (CPs) reviews, invoices and payments.
- Reporting and Analytics: Reporting of the MTA’s Financial Plan and analyzing data pertaining to DEP’s water and wastewater systems.
- Visualize Data: Clean and visualize a data set from the MTA’s Open Data portal and TLC’s public reports. - Draft Memos: Work on backgrounders focused on TLC and DEP’s operations, exploring their history and how they function.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to use Excel formulas and pivot tables.
- Resourceful problem-solver who seeks out answers to complex questions proactively.
- Positive team player committed to achieving both personal and shared goals.
- Strong analytical, research and communications skills are required.
- Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel.
