The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks an experienced Timekeeper.

Job Summary

Serve as agency timekeeper, working with supervisors to ensure punctual and accurate entry of time (including leave) and processing of timesheets in City system (NYC CityTime) in accordance with citywide regulations and agency policies.

Job Responsibilities

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures employee timesheets are submitted/approved weekly.
  • Set up new hires in CityTime/ update profile/ transfer employees/ schedule changes/ process closeout to payout the employee when they resign/ retire/ terminated.
  • Identify and report any abuse of time usage, unapproved leave, or the need for Leave without Pay (LWOP); prepare reports, as needed.
  • Process time / leave for employees on paid leave, LWOPs for anticipatory work; 0150/ 0180 transactions.
  • Process employees' transfer of time between agencies (DP2001).
  • Approve time and leave events, create, and assign employee schedules, and override existing schedules when necessary.
  • Conduct Manual Leave Adjustment (MLA) processing.
  • Analyze rules, regulation and polices; retrieve and review information from CityTime and City Human Resources Management System (CHRMS).
  • Verifying documentation submitted e.g., doctor’s notes, jury duty, FMLA, excused absence, etc.
  • Ability to identify errors when a timesheet will not be submitted or approve.
  • Train employee on how to approve their newly assigned units while maintaining approval tree.
  • Logging tickets in REMEDY to resolve CityTime / accrual issues.
  • Process monthly late reporting.
  • Undertake special projects related to time & leave directed by Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Reply to heavy volume of incoming e-mail inquiries in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in CityTime, PMS, CHRMS and other City databases

Qualification Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
