The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. DYCD is seeking to hire a Worksite Monitor for the OSOW (out-of-school/out-of-work) unit. The OSOW unit serves young adults, aged 16-24 who are out-of-school and unemployed. The Worksite Monitor will monitor the performance of internship programs, documenting areas of success as well as those requiring corrective measures and immediate attention. In addition to worksite monitoring, the OSOW Worksite Monitor will observe participant worksites, ensure participant satisfaction, support identifying opportunities for skills development and other training activities. Additionally, the OSOW Worksite Coordinator will work closely with CBO’s to guide resolutions for any challenges related to the internship process or experience. The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is seeking a Worksite Monitor to conduct site visits and monitor program quality at employment/internship sites, provide administrative support for program staff to ensure policy adherence and safety, and confirm all contractual requirements are followed in accordance with Program requirements.

Responsibilities Include

  • Extensive daily travel (navigating public transportation) to complete site evaluations throughout all five boroughs
  • Monitor site assessments to accurately document program implementation; success of site performance and any findings in need of correction
  • Reviewing all worksite procedures to ensure program practices meet City, State, and Federal guidelines utilizing Wireless Monitoring Devices (mobile device/tablet) provided by DYCD
  • Conducting visits in all weather conditions *Note: Site visits are conducted in-person, and virtually at the discretion of your supervisor and program needs.

Additional Responsibilities May Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Clearly communicating program policies/procedures/rules and regulations
  • Perform daily administrative functions as related to working in an office- which may include but are not limited to data entry, answering phones, and using data systems
  • Tracking of program components and activities including worksite /internship development/partnerships
  • Submit reports to program supervisors and management teams identifying matters in need of immediate attention
  • Assist in establishing and coordinating relationships with employers/networks to support internship and employment opportunities
  • Support the preparation of presentations and program guidance to effectively communicate program goals
  • Review worksite monitoring notes submitted by our community partners, identifying any discrepancies or concerns, and promptly bring them to your supervisor for further action.
  • Conduct review of program files and perform administrative auditing to ensure program compliance while maintaining security of participant information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively document program activities.
  • Review/Evaluate provider responses to determine sustainability for future program awards Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience working with community, engaging with

nonprofits/organizations, familiarity with the young adult workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

Mathematical abilities and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite demonstrated work proficiency with the Internet and Google Maps. Ability to use Android mobile device. Ability to travel extensively and independently using the NYC Transit System.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
