The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.

In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Director of Recruitment and Onboarding.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Chief of Human Resources and the Director of Recruitment and Onboarding, the selected candidate will monitor and develop HR processes.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and support the work of Recruitment and Onboarding staff.
  • Review requests for job postings to ensure that the title being used is correct and the job description aligns with the position.
  • Review and analyzes job vacancy notices for approval in NYCAPS.
  • Manage and oversee the onboarding processes and activities performed in onboarding such as candidate educational qualifications, work history, and background check processes.
  • Review all personnel /E-hire data forms for accuracy and entry in NYCAPS and sign off on personnel actions completed by the onboarding team.
  • Authorized for specific personnel actions, such as new appointments, promotions, terminations, civil service pick-up and transfers and reinstatements in NYCAPS.
  • Troubleshoot with NYCAPS on any actions (Civil Service Title change, promotions, salary information, etc.) that does not get accepted into PMS and NYCAPS.
  • Provide recommendations regarding opportunities to improve recruitment, onboarding and retention.
  • Manage recruitment event planning and logistics including hiring halls, hiring pools, networking events and interview dates.
  • Track actions from candidate processing appointment and provide weekly update status.
  • Attend meeting with staff to review the status of personnel actions including new hires and vacancies.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Human Resources and Director of Human Resources on developing operational processes and guidelines.
  • Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs and other statistical/metrics on various human resources topics.
  • Manage special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in working in a NYC Human Resources Office and understand NYC Human Resources applications including PMS, PRISE, CHRMS and NYCAPS.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Strong problem – solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and have the ability to work with a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast - paced environment.

ADM MANAGER-NON-MGRL FRM M1/M2 - 1002C

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience requiring independent decision-making concerning program management or planning, allocation for resources and the scheduling and assignment of work, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
  • An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of

satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1"

above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial,

executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the

supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than

moderate difficulty; or

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all

candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1", "2" or "3" above. Education above

the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative

experience (but not for the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory

experience described in "1", "2" or "3" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits

from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½

years.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
