Job Description

The Associate Director in Office of Behavioral Health will provide oversight, technical assistance and support for Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health programs across 11 NYC H H acute care facilities and Gotham sites. The role reports into the Director of Child and Adolescent Services, and works closely with site leadership to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. This role provides broad oversight of OMH child and adolescent licensed programs and helps implement new programs to ensure the highest quality treatment throughout the system.

General tasks and responsibilities will include :

  • Under direction from the Director, Child & Adolescent and the Chief Program Officer, and in close collaboration with the Directors of Psychiatry, plans and implements system of care for children and adolescents in the NYC H H system.
  • Ensures standardization of behavioral health programs and services across the system, implements supportive strategies such as bed registry management, access for DOE students and families, and other services.
  • Oversees grant funded crisis intervention and school-based programs.
  • Works closely with leadership on increasing access into our Outpatient programs across the system.
  • Works closely with acute care facilities to streamline our admissions process for NYC H H Child and Adolescent inpatient beds.
  • Helps lead modernization efforts of behavioral health ambulatory services by furthering the integration of technological solutions, enhancing the use of Epic functionalities and patient portal.
  • Tracks quality improvement initiatives through data analysis, dashboarding, and ongoing monitoring of outpatient system dashboard.
  • Serves as a liaison / coordinator between city agency partners, community partners, and other child & adolescent services.
  • Provide technical assistance to facilities to standardize care and demonstrate improved outcomes for children and adolescents.
  • Partners closely with relevant city agency and community partners to design and implement new services.
  • Liaison with DOHMH and OMH regarding contracts, best practices, licensure, and other relevant issues.
  • Liaison with facilities related to C A programming.
  • Performs special assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Health Care Specialization, Social Work, Psychology or related field;
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital or regulatory agency administration, with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; or
  • Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health field issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • Department Preferences

  • Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills.
  • Two years of experience and background at responsible management and administrative levels.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of public health programming and evaluation, epidemiological data analysis and data translation.

  • Knowledgeable In :

  • OMH regulations for behavioral health services.
  • Behavioral health conditions and treatment modalities.
  • Thorough knowledge of city systems and related services for children and families.
