What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at NYC HOUSING AUTHORITY?
THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY FOR 3 MONTHS.
The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 311 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people.
The Healthy Homes Unit (HHU) operationalizes environmental hazard compliance efforts at NYCHA. Additionally, HHU is committed to providing residents with the healthy and safe homes they deserve and is taking all necessary actions to tackle mold in all developments in the 5 boroughs. Office of Mold Assessment and Remediation (OMAR) is responsible for managing mold
assessment and remediation contracts, ventilation modernization contracts, performance management, providing quality assurance and providing technical assistance to support Public Housing Operations for mold remediation at NYCHA.
Under supervision of the Supervisor of OMAR, the painters will work on a specialized Team across five boroughs to provide supplemental resources to developments that have the greatest needs for mold/leak repairs. The specialized team will be responsible for painting with mold resistant paint, patching and painting of a general nature, including all coats.
Responsibilities and licenses include, but are not limited to the following: Responsibilities of selected candidates will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Prepare, fill and prime surfaces for painting.
2. Mix paint components and match colors.
3. Apply paint with a brush, roller or spray gun.
4. Apply spackle and or joint compound.
5. Work on and from ladders, platforms and scaffolds.

Minimum Qual Requirements
1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years; or
2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years and sufficient full-time satisfactory apprentice painter experience to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice painter experience.
