The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Administrative Services is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations
of the Mayor’s Office and agencies under City Hall; oversees City Hall’s $60M budget; manages the
strategic planning and hiring of talent and resources; and provides technical support to staff.
Administrative Services comprises six units: Financial Services, Human Resources, Information
Technology, Payroll and Timekeeping, Facilities and Construction Management, and the Print Shop.
Additionally, the Office has a dotted-line oversight of the DCAS chauffeurs assigned to Senior Cabinet.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Deputy Director of Financial Services will oversee the day-to-day operations for financial management of the
Mayor’s Office including Budget, Procurement, Accounts Payables, Travel and Special Projects. Under the
direction of the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, the Deputy Director will carry out the following
oversight:
- Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with different constituencies.
- Actively participate as a member of the Financial Services’ management team including recommending,
designing, and coordinating changes to departmental business practices related to financial management,
procurement/fiscal operations, and assigned administrative services programs/functions, in compliance
with Citywide established processes, policies, and procedures.
- Plan, direct, and manage - through lower-level supervisory staff - departmental administrative services
- Review and monitor the financial activity of assigned agency or departments’/divisions’ budgets; oversee
established budget.
- Manage and oversee all functions of Purchasing, Accounts Payables, travel and cash receipts for the 35
- Maintain accurate financials and reports to support the operations and financials of all the mayoral
- Responsible for managing and coordinating fiscal year-end transactions (i.e., rollovers, accruals, etc.)
- Responsible for monitoring the progress of the office’s long and short-term projects and for
recommending changes, enhancements, and additional projects/goals to enhance Financial Services
operations.
- Review and approve procurement actions and ensure they align with the Citywide established
- Oversee and coordinate with stakeholders EZPass usage by the Mayor’s Office assigned fleet.
- Monitor and approve Mayor’s Office travel requests/expenses and reimbursements to confirm they
- Collaborate with the Chief Counsel’s Office on financial related inquiries and FOIL requests.
- Research and recommend cost-saving opportunities such as order consolidations, alternate vendors, State
contracts, new bids, etc.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree and six or more years of experience, or a Master’s Degree and at least three
- Work experience in New York City government, preferably in a fiscal/purchasing/budget role.
- You are a self-starter who is extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple
- You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- You are a stellar judgment and sensitivity when responding to the needs and expectations of
- You have excellent relationship management skills, influencing ability, and humility.
- You have a proven ability to handle sensitive material and information with discretion.
- You have solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary,
equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is
$135,000 - $159,844.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
