The Team You’ll Work With
The Mayor’s Office Human Resources Department is responsible for creating a dynamic workplace that
assists with all aspects of employee development. The department works as a strategic partner to
provide workforce and organizational capabilities that support the overall functionality of the agency.
Through recruitment efforts, and offering special programming and development opportunities, HR
aims at helping new employees make the transition into their positions and supporting hiring
managers who are building collaborative teams. In all, Human Resources works to create a workplace
where the staff are engaged, connected, and provided the resources to thrive.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Human Resources Manager under the direction of the Chief HR Officer and the Deputy Director of
HR will support the day-to-day HR operations by working closely with the HR team at large to assist
with the execution of personnel actions and human resources administrative support. Manage Human
Resources Administrative processes.
- Coordinate with HR Business Partners to aide in personnel action processing.
- Management of background check process: Department of Investigation (DOI), Police Desk
checks, and City Clerk Oath of Office processing.
- Management of labor law posters both physical and via the intranet.
- Human Resources communication lead: drafting and distributing informational emails to staff
and creating monthly newsletters.
- Assistance with training and presentations; preparing materials, registration links, sending
invitations, and assisting with formal presentations.
- Managing the HR mailbox and voicemails; responding to and routing messages where
appropriate.
- Management of job postings and working closely with units on recruitment updates. Monthly
job posting update.
- Manage employment verification requests.
- Management of traveling personnel folders.
- Proper management and transitions of all current and inactive personnel records.
- New hire orientation preparation and assistance.
- Serve as the FINDIS Coordinator, working closely with Sr. HR Manager to liaise with the
Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB) and Dept of Investigation (DOI) on behalf of the agency.
- Representing the Mayor’s Office at job fairs.
- Provide overall support to the Chief HR Officer and Deputy Director of Human Resources.
- Other related HR duties as assigned.
About You
- You have a Bachelor’s degree preferred or a High School Diploma or Equivalency a minimum
of 3 years’ experience working in an HR setting.
- You are a self-starter who is extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple
priorities.
- You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- You are a stellar judgment and sensitivity when responding to the needs and expectations of
multiple employee audiences (including frontline staff, managers, senior staff, and leadership).
- You have excellent relationship management skills, influencing ability, and humility.
- You have a proven ability to handle sensitive material and information with discretion.
- You have solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $68,000 to $70,000.
