Description
We are hiring School Bus Attendants for the 2025-2026 school year! This is your chance to be part of a great organization serving NYC schools and families. As a School Bus Attendant for NYCSBUS, you will :
Assists NYCSBUS School Bus Drivers in maintaining student discipline while the bus is in operation and tracks number of behavioral instances, severity of issues, and reports concerns to supervisor or students campus. Assists in seating assignments and the loading and unloading of students at pick up and drop off locations. Responsible for monitoring student behavior and implementing transit rules by working with individual campuses and the Safety and Training Manager. Often responsible for detailed care in the transportation of specialized or medically fragile students and for excellent communication with parents and guardians.
Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must obtain certificate from the State of New York attesting to "School Bus Attendant/Monitor Basic Course of Instruction"

Must qualify following criminal checks in accordance with Federal, State and local guidelines

Must be able to read and comprehend the Rules and Regulations Governing the Operation of School Transportation Vehicles in order to assist drivers as needed

Must satisfactorily complete the NYCSBUS Bus Monitor training program and fully understand student discipline guidelines and expectations placed on students for ridership privileges

Must acquire and maintain a standard Red Cross first aid certificate

Must be able to transport themselves to and from work everyday

Multilingual speaking and writing skills are a plus
