Sacramento-based Commercial General Contractor serving the private and public sectors, committed to customer satisfaction with an emphasis on safety, quality, and the client’s budget, is searching for a career-minded qualified commercial construction Estimator / Senior Estimator to join our team.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the President/CEO and Chief Estimator, the Estimator / Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing and managing estimates including all related tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Estimate pre-construction services, including negotiated and hard bid projects
• Review bid documents, including plans and specifications
• Participate in proposal meeting with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering input
• Collaborate closely with owners and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings
• Prepare and/or review the contract with the client and know the terms and conditions
• Review and monitor timely turnaround of submittals and Request for Information (RFI’s)
• Prepare quantity take-offs using Bluebeam
• Prepare labor and material estimates
• Contact subcontractors and suppliers as scope of work requires
• Communicate with architects, engineers, and owners
• Prepare bids and proposals, including evaluation of subcontractor proposals
• Buy-out including drafting contracts and cost coding
• Ensure an accurate and complete project estimate
• Plan and conduct onsite prebid site inspection meetings with subcontractors
• Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
• Organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
• Use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external client expectations
• Present schedule of values/change orders to the client and obtain written authorization to proceed
• Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and other associates, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 3-5 years of estimating experience
• Commercial General Contractor estimating experience
• Knowledge and ability to generate accurate scope and pricing based on limited information.
• Ability to manage a workload of multiple estimates
• Experience bidding projects in the $100K to $5M range
• Experience in Pre-construction and including conceptual estimating a plus
• Design/Build experience is preferrable
• Degree or certificate in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, Bluebeam and Procore software a plus.
• The best candidates will be self-starting, detailed and organized team players with demonstrated delivery in high-pressure situations
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to negotiate, motivate and communicate effectively
• Project Management Professional or PMP Certification is a plus
