POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision from the Director of Summer Programs, the Edit Lab Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Edit Lab(s) dedicated NYFA’s Summer Programs at Harvard Summer Camps, establishing a workflow process to ensure all footage received is cataloged and organized, assisting with the supervision of Technical Assistants (TA) who are responsible for advising students during post production, providing hands-on assistance with the safe operation of technical equipment, edit acting for film scenes and monologues using industry standard software, and assisting with in classroom needs and other day-to-day responsibilities to ensure the successful operation of the summer programs.
Effective Date: Part-Time (ASAP), Full-Time Seasonal (06/16/2025 – 8/05/2025)
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day to day operations of the Edit Lab(s), including but not limited to, managing edit classes and open edit schedule, determine staffing needs, and ensuring all film students successfully export final project(s)
- Facilitate and oversee all aspects of the hiring process for Edit Lab TAs
- Schedule and supervise Edit Lab TAs
- Develop an onboarding process for newly hired Edit Lab TAs, such as training, orientation, uniform distribution, etc
- Develop workflow procedures in collaboration with with Equipment & TA Manager
- Maintain various logistics necessary to ensure the smooth running of the Edit Lab
- Create and maintain effective channels of communication with the Equipment & TA Manager and Director
- Assist Post Production Supervisor in obtaining necessary acting for film footage and provide staffing assistance when needed
- Supervise student post production and offer technical assistance to students to ensure their proper and safe use of equipment and software
- Facilitate a safe and effective environment at all times
- Approve and review Edit Lab TA staff payroll biweekly
- Advise students on technical and creative matters
- Assist with the build out of the Edit Lab before the program begins, including the set-up of all student laptops and installation of licenses
- Assist with the breakdown of the Edit Lab after the program ends
- Determine equipment, software, or other supply needs and communicate with with Operations to obtain
- Support Summer Program Administrative staff with facilities and operations needs
- Prep and organize footage before Edit classes and/or Open Edit
- Provide assistance during Edit Classes or instruction, on a need basis
- Other duties as assigned by Director, or senior management
- Liaise with acting instructors on creative decisions for final cuts
- Oversee post production for acting final class projects (scenes and monologues)
- Ensure deadlines are met for final screenings and in-class reviews
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including students, faculty and staff
- Ability to work hard, responds to emergencies, and always maintains the safety and educational environment for the students
- A strong grasp of Final Cut, Avid and Adobe Premiere
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent skills in database management and record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and simultaneously on projects of varied complexity, carrying out each to its conclusion with a very high level of effectiveness
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Industry editing experience preferred.
- Film/video production experience strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching, leading and or working with Kids/Teens plus
