Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator

NYLAG
New York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 1/17/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/16/2025
About NYLAG:
Founded in 1990, NYLAG is a leading civil legal services organization combatting economic, racial, and social injustice by advocating for people experiencing poverty or in crisis. Our services include comprehensive, free civil legal services, financial empowerment, impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community partnerships. NYLAG exists because wealth should not determine who has access to justice. We aim to disrupt systemic racism by serving individuals and families whose legal and financial crises are often rooted in racial inequality. NYLAG goes to where the need is, providing services in more than 150 community sites (e.g. courts, hospitals, libraries) and on our Mobile Legal Help Center. During COVID-19, most of our services were virtual to keep our community safe. NYLAG’s staff of 380 impacted the lives of nearly 129,000 people last year.

This is a dynamic role that reports to and works collaboratively with the Director of Communications to bring NYLAG’s work and mission to life in the digital space. In this creative position, the coordinator is highly encouraged to help develop new, innovative approaches to telling NYLAG’s story.

    • Manage back-end website maintenance and updates, liaising with website consultant when needed.
  • Email:
    • In partnership with Development, manage email marketing efforts: drafting content, managing approvals, and sending all external marketing emails.
  • Branding and General Marketing:
  • Create graphic designs for flyer templates and special projects.
  • Support the director in ensuring effective, consistent NYLAG branding on all communications materials, including by outside organizations and companies.

  • Monitor, compile, and analyze data from NYLAG’s digital media platforms to strategically increase visibility and make data-informed decisions for future content and campaigns.
  • Utilize best practices and new approaches to support fundraising in a digital space.
  • Support other marketing and communications functions as needed, including copy editing and brainstorming strategy and messaging.

Administration and Operations:
  • Liaise with communications vendors, including graphic designers, printers, and photographers.
  • Serve as gatekeeper for all outreach materials (such as signage, banner, tablecloth, giveaways, etc.) and digital marketing equipment (cameras, etc.)
  • Catalogue and maintain a bank of image files for use in marketing and communications efforts.
  • Support admin functions, such as department payment requests from vendors.

Qualifications
  • At least 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in digital marketing and communications in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and relevant software, e.g., Canva or similar applications/software
  • Proficiency in social media, email marketing, and website management (Salesforce, WordPress, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
