- THE ROLE
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
- Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards
- Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations, and ensuring that the Geology team report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives
- Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
- Lead and manage underground geological mapping, sampling, ore body interpretation, and data analysis for grade control modeling overseeing ore production & mined ore reconciliation.
- 3D-Ore interpretation - stope and development mapping, cross sections and level plan interpretations in Leapfrog.
- Structural interpretations and management of the underground geologic mapping database through Leapfrog.
- Grade control activities – face and muck pile grading.
- Review and manage all stope definition drill programs in conjunction with the Mine and Exploration Geologists.
- Perform periodic audits of geology mapping, database completion, and continually improve the data capture and entry process.
- Compilation and reconciliation of mineral resource inventory monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Supervision and support of Mine Geologist, Project Geologists, Geology Technicians.
- Monthly mine geology reporting on volumes, ore/waste advancement in conjunction with survey and engineering team.
- Planning sessions and support with Mine Managers and Short-Term Planners to support 7 21- and 3-month rolling forecast scheduling.
- Conducts monthly Grade Control audits and oversight of mine Dilution Tracking.
- Oversees XRF analysis of muck, stockpile sampling, volume tracking.
- Liaise with infill drilling operations and mine operation in general
- Support the Geology Team as required and to the wider MTS Department
- Provide technical, personal support and supervision to trainee/graduate Geologists and Mine Geologists
- Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations
- B.Sc. in Geology
- Minimum 5 years production/exploration geology experience in mining role
- Exposure and experience with underground grade control.
- Exposure to a broad range of drilling techniques
- Exposure and experience in geostatistical resource estimation techniques and block modelling and QAQC of drilling Data.
- Experience with 3-D modelling Software preferably Minesight, Vulcan, Leapfrog, etc.
- Good practical understanding of underground mining methods
- Prior supervisory experience
- Hydrogeology experience will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a group as a team leader
