Duties Description
This position will be filled in one of the bureaus in the Office of Design (Design, Design Mapping and Automation, or Design Quality Assurance). General duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Minimum Qualifications
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*
Qualifications
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:
Promotional: One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Engineering Geologist, Engineering Materials Analyst, Environmental Engineering Technician 2, Junior Architect, Senior Drafting Technician (all parenthetics), Senior Engineering Technician, or Senior Engineering Technician (Soils).
Open Competitive: Four years of drafting experience including at least one year of specialized drafting experience on civil engineering projects.
Substitution
Either 1. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction technology, architecture, or architectural technology;
Or 2. an associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction technology, architecture, or architectural technology AND two years of drafting experience including one year of specialized drafting experience on civil engineering projects;
Or 3. A certificate in computer-aided drafting* issued by a regionally accredited college or university AND two years of drafting experience including at least one year of specialized drafting experience on civil engineering projects

Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education. - Prepares CADD drawings for highway and bridge projects.
- Prepares presentation plans for public meetings and reports.
- Performs calculations and prepares tables for highway and bridge projects.
- Assists with the development of the engineer’s estimate.
- Assists in the gathering and compilation of site data for highway and bridge projects.
- Reviews plans prepared by the Design Section for compliance with CADD standards.
- Assists staff within the section with CADD related issues.
- Other assignments to address office needs.

- Certificates from a Trade or Technical school will be accepted only if it is from an institution that is regionally accredited or recognized by the NYS Department of Education. - This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

Salary : $58,247 - $74,135
