Duties Description
Instruct a course(s) recognized by the New York State Education Department.
Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines.
Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans and conduct a schedule of formal instruction for residents of an Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facility.
Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.
Open to the Public: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)*.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non- competitive appointment, if the candidate meets the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.

Requirements for Appointment at Each Level:
For Teacher 2: Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
For Teacher 3: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
For Teacher 4: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.
This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
