Under the direction of the Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, of the PeopleSoft Center (PSC) the Information Technology Specialist 2-Hourly, SG-18, will assist in the support of 7 Enterprise PeopleSoft Applications: HCM (Human Capital Management System), NYSTEP (New York State Electronic Personnel System), NYBEAS (New York Benefits and Eligibility System), NYBEAS Financials, SLMS (Statewide Learning Management System), DOL Financials and NYSWCB CHIPS (New York State Workers Compensation Boar’s CIS, HPA, IC2, Payor Compliance interfaces to SFS) Systems.
Specific Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
OR
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;
OR
60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply.

Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

- Provide support in creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PeopleSoft Environments, Civil Service legacy Environments, including database servers, application servers, web servers, process scheduler, print server, mail server, and proxy servers
- Perform system administration (Application Server/Web Server/Schedule Server/Database Server Support) on Oracle VM, Unix Sun Solaris, Oracle, Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux and Window 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016 platforms.
- Perform Webserver Administration
- Participate in System and/or Server Software Upgrades and Patches using related tools such as PeopleSoft Update Manager, Change Assistant
- Participate in the setup, configuration, maintenance and support of PeopleSoft Integration Broker, Web Services and other tools to facilitate systems integrations across applications
- Participate in application installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, security audits, performance testing, SSL certs renewals and installation as well as monitor systems using tools like Zabbix, Oracle Enterprise Manager, OpsCenter.
- Support File Transfers including encryption/decryption including creating new file transfer processes as well as trouble-shooting existing processes.
- Create and modify SQL, Unix Bourne, Bash, Korn shell scripts as required.
- Collaborate with Development and Functional teams
