The End Use Applications Program within NYSERDA’s Innovation and Research (I&R) Group focuses on accelerating the development and commercialization of innovative solutions that enable higher energy efficiency and the decarbonization of the building, industrial, and data center segments in New York State This Project Manager role will play an integral part in planning, developing and managing interventions (solicitations & projects) and strategies that overcome market barriers, and accelerate the availability, scale and penetration of building and industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies, especially clean forms of heating and cooling (space & process), building envelope improvements, applications of thermal storage, alternative solutions, and enable building/industry grid interactivity in providing flexible resources to the New York grid. The Project Manager will be expected to travel approximately 10-15% of professionally committed time to meet with team members, stakeholders and potential partners. This position will report to the Program Manager, End Use Applications.

Primary Responsibilities

- Identify market barriers and opportunities to/for building/industrial decarbonization through analysis, research, and stakeholder engagement.
- Prioritize and translate identified barriers and opportunities to defined challenges (needs).
- Develop solicitations (funding opportunities) to address the challenges and work with other NYSERDA departments in the approval and release of the solicitation.
- Marketing of the solicitation to the targeted market audience
- Identify a diverse set of qualified individuals to review proposal submissions and recommend fundability.
- Convene and document scoring committee reviews and recommendations.
- Present and obtain approval from NYSERDA’s senior management to make awards.
- Negotiate a scope of work, budget, and schedule for each awarded project.
- Manage the internal review and approval process in contracting each project.
- Proactively manage a broad range of technical projects with a clear focus on success and risk management.
- Collaborate with other internal and external departments having related interests and goals.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of technology advancements, pending regulations and policies having a potential impact on the targeted focus area(s).
- Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
