Undergrad Chemical Dependency Technician Internship
As a Chemical Dependency Technician Intern, you will work alongside and learn from a team of Substance Abuse Counselors and other professionals that oversee clients and their treatment at our brand-new Residential Treatment Center in Big Lake, MN! You’ll perform a variety of important tasks such as responding to client needs/concerns, assisting with administrative duties, implementing programming as requested, and the general daily care of clients such as serving meals, accompanying them to appointments, providing general support, and responding accordingly to incidents, etc.
Starting: Fall Semester - 2025
Pay: 17.50 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, weekday, weekend, and weeknight schedules available to compliment your school schedule.

Duties Include
- Maintain and promote a positive, safe, harmonious, productive and challenging work environment. Uphold the highest level of moral and ethical standards.
- Maintain knowledge, understanding of, and compliance with Nystrom & Associates Program Policy and Procedures upon training.
- Conducting chart audits to insure compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) 245G Statutes including timely documentation completion, clinical thoroughness and accurate billing for services provided.
- Provides assistance to on-duty counseling staff.
- Provides consistency in program by maintaining all client restrictions communicated by counseling staff. Communicates to staff any inappropriate or suspected inappropriate client behavior.
- Knows and follows program emergency procedures, vulnerable adult policy and reporting procedures, incident/accident reporting policies and procedures, and weather policies and procedures.
- Monitors and documents client activities. Accompanies clients to directed activities or functions and monitoring behavior, attendance and safe return to resident facility.
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an undergrad education program pursuing education/career in the substance use disorder field, in psychology, counseling or other social work-related programs.
- Must have reliable transportation to work at our residential facility.
- Must be able to pass related background checks in accordance with our program requirements.
- Must have a passion for providing a high level of care to individuals receiving care.
