Position Title: Track Laborer
Reports to: Norther Division Supervisor
Location: Butler, NJ
Position Objective
The Track Laborer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our rail operations by maintaining and repairing track infrastructure. This hands-on position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and includes responsibilities like rail and bridge maintenance, equipment operation, and other track-related duties.
Major Responsibilities
Track Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform maintenance and construction of tracks, including installing rails, ties, switches, and other track materials.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on culverts and bridges.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain equipment used in track work.
- Perform regular inspections to ensure tools and machinery are in proper working condition.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and federal regulations.
Other Duties:
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Expectations
- Work outdoors daily in all weather conditions.
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
- Display strong attention to detail and maintain a high standard of safety at all times.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current Class A CDL driver’s license with a clean driving history.
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card to operate vehicles with GVWs between 10,001 lbs and 46,000 lbs.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment physical, random drug tests, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience in rail or construction-related fields.
- Familiarity with specialized tools and track maintenance equipment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly Wage: $26.01 - $28.83/hour.
