Under supervision with moderate latitude of independent judgment and decision making performs clinical laboratory procedures examinations and related tests.Job Responsibilities : Initiates plans organizes coordinates and schedules special studies related to improving services of the laboratories; modifies their techniques or devises new methodologiesSupervises and monitors the work of the laboratory examiners or consultants inspecting laboratories under permitDesignates and initiates the study of new materials or methods to improve diagnostic proceduresAssists in the preparation or revision of specifications for laboratory layouts and / or their equipmentConsult with manufacturers vendors and contractors concerning laboratory planning and / or equipmentPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications : Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist or a limited permit issued by the NYS Education DepartmentPreferred Qualifications : Masters Degree with a major in one of the chemical physical or biological sciences and at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience of which not less than two years have been spent working in the designated laboratory specialty in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral levelQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
